Egra Organisation for the Cultivation of Science (O.C.S.) was established on 24th October , 1984 for inculcating the spirit of science among young learners and rural folks. It is registered under the societies registration act of Govt. of west Bengal having registration number S/78096 . The organisation is also affiliated to Vigyan Prasar Network under Department of Science And Technology , Govt. of India having Affiliation No. V3212344 . The O.C.S. is also associated with activities of Indian Association Of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and All India Science Teachers Association .We are sincerely devoted to popularise science and propagate scientific concepts among young generation through following activities . i) To organise Science Exhibition ,workshops with experimental demonstration and symposia . ii) To organise Telescopic sky watching camps. iii) To organise Slide show and science based Magic And Miracles show . iv) Training programmes on low cost teaching aids making at schools . v) Arrangement of free health checkup and medicine distribution camps . vi) General awareness campaigns . vii) To continue Pratiphalan Pathagar and Centre for Elementary experiments at Egra . viii) To publish science periodical (Pratiphalan ) , books , booklets by Pratiphalan Publication . ix) To conduct “Test for Scientific Taste “ to promote habits of text book reading ,and growing healthy competitive attitude for the preparation of different Entrance Examination . x) To organise Science fair , Science Festival , and celebration of Important National And International Days . xi) To promote afforestation , control of population and pollution . xii) To adopt social services programmes , computer literacy and poverty eradication programme . xiii) Miscellaneous activities helpful for rural upliftment .
